GreenPro standards emphasize client communication and partnership in Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Correcting sanitation is a fundamental non-chemical control method; relying on chemical applications without addressing root causes violates GreenPro principles. Terminating the contract immediately ignores the opportunity to educate the client and build a successful IPM program.

GreenPro allows conventional pesticides only as a last resort when other IPM methods fail, requiring proper documentation of the justification. They are not strictly prohibited, but client preference or initial clean-outs do not bypass the requirement to prioritize non-chemical and low-risk methods first.

GreenPro relies on action thresholds to dictate interventions; two ants typically fall below the threshold requiring chemical treatment. Spraying or baiting unnecessarily violates IPM principles, while adding an excessive number of monitors is an impractical overreaction.

Exclusion techniques like sealing penetrations and installing door sweeps are fundamental physical controls in GreenPro IPM. Bait stations and dusts are chemical controls, and ultrasonic devices are generally not recognized as effective primary controls by professional standards.

Source reduction by eliminating standing water is the most effective and required first step in a GreenPro mosquito management program. Applying treatments before addressing the root cause, or relying on ineffective bug zappers, contradicts IPM best practices.

GreenPro is a specialized service certification that requires the company to already hold and maintain the baseline NPMA QualityPro certification. While LEED, PESP, and OSHA are valid programs, they are not the prerequisite foundational certifications for GreenPro.

GreenPro emphasizes mechanical controls like HEPA vacuuming and steam, combined with targeted, low-risk chemical applications like desiccant dusts. Broadcast pyrethroids and foggers violate GreenPro’s targeted application rules, while relying solely on encasements is insufficient for eradication.

FIFRA 25(b) exempt products are strictly defined by specific lists of approved active and inert ingredients deemed to pose minimal risk. Being natural or heavily diluted does not automatically grant 25(b) status, and they do not require application strictly by entomologists.

Mice travel along walls and edges due to a behavior called thigmotaxis; placing traps perpendicular to walls in high-activity areas maximizes interception. Placing traps in open spaces, at rigid arbitrary distances, or on ceilings ignores rodent behavioral biology and reduces trapping efficacy.

The initial inspection is the foundation of an IPM program, used to gather site-specific data to create a tailored, effective strategy. It is not used to maximize pesticide use, provide generic treatment lists, or make impossible guarantees of immediate eradication.

Educating the client on IPM principles is a core requirement of GreenPro; treatments must be justified by pest presence, not routine scheduling. Applying unnecessary chemicals violates standards, using water is deceptive, and claiming baseboard sprays are federally illegal is factually incorrect.

Baits and pastes applied in cracks and crevices pose the lowest risk of drift and inhalation exposure, aligning with GreenPro’s safety and environmental goals. Broadcast sprays, foggers, and applying dusts into air handlers significantly increase the risk of airborne exposure and drift.

An increase in trap catches indicates an ongoing or undiscovered breeding source, requiring further inspection and source reduction. Resorting to fogging bypasses IPM steps, UV traps are not specific to meal moths, and an increase in catches does not indicate resolution.

Containing runoff and preventing contamination of storm drains and groundwater is a critical environmental stewardship practice in GreenPro. Washing into storm drains, dumping on soil, or altering label rates are illegal and highly damaging to the environment.

Termite baiting systems use very small amounts of targeted active ingredients and are highly preferred in green pest management over high-volume liquid barriers. Borates are used on raw wood, not vinyl siding, and GreenPro does allow preventative monitoring and baiting.

An action threshold is the biological or economic tipping point where pest activity becomes unacceptable, triggering an intervention. It is a fundamental IPM concept, entirely unrelated to pesticide legal limits, trap density rules, or financial budgets.

Drain flies breed in organic gelatinous film; microbial cleaners and physical brushing remove this breeding source, aligning perfectly with IPM and GreenPro standards. Bleach and pesticides poured down drains are ineffective, often illegal, and harmful to water systems.

GreenPro requires technicians to be properly trained in IPM and GreenPro specific standards, alongside maintaining necessary state licensure. It does not require a university degree, constant on-site entomologist supervision, or hazardous waste certification.
